Started off with the Sashimi Salad (MYR14.80) with Sushi Tei dressing. The dressing tastes basically exactly the same as any other Japanese restaurant's salad dressing. Serving was good with generous portions of assorted sashimi, however I still do prefer lobster or crabmeat salad.
Next on the menu - the Soft Shell Crab with Fish Floss (MYR12.80). The crunchiness of the deep fried soft shell crab goes well with the soft sushi rice. Was a tad bit too spicy for the darling though, despite the waiter telling us "no lah, only little bit hot."
Asama (MYR30.80), 5 slices each of Tuna, Salmon, and Hamachi (yellowtail tuna). A bit of a miss here - the slices were nice and chunky but the Salmon was a bit mushy and not the usual springy/firm texture that I've expected and previously served here.
Hamachi, Butter Fish, Salmon Belly and Half-Broiled Salmon Belly sushi (MYR20.40). Again, the Salmon didn't taste quite up to the mark for the quality I expect from Sushi Tei. Also, Sushi Tei's sushi rice tends to be a bit on the vinegary side, which the darling loves (me ... not so much).
Bill came up to about MYR90 for two. I hear that lunch hour the place is typically quite empty; for dinner on weekends expect a minimal wait and to be seated within 15 minutes.
