Moo Cow Frozen Yoghurt - Opening Day for the Gardens Mall Outlet.

Moo Cow Frozen Yoghurt has just opened a new outlet in Kay-El ! They're on the third floor of the Gardens Mall, right in between Sushi Zanmai and Fong Lye (Taiwanese Restaurant). I was told that this was their third outlet, but the pretty lady didn't know where the second outlet is (uncle google only tells me about the one in Hartamas Shopping Centre).

Anyway as of the opening day, they've got two 'seasonal' flavours - wheatgrass and root beer - in addition to their 'original' flavour. What the darling and I liked was that the frozen yoghurt had a very distinct 'yoghurty' taste. I mean, what's the point of having frozen yoghurt that just tastes like ice cream, right?

Prices are reasonable too - original is MYR9.90 (seasonal flavors MYR10.90), which gives you a hefty serving of creamy frozen yoghurt, and a topping of your choice. You can then add on even more toppings to your heart's content at MYR1.00 each.

Today being opening day, there were a trio of ... milkmaids handing out frozen yoghurt samples - we also tried the root beer sampler - which tasted very interesting but also reduced the creaminess a little by imparting a certain 'iciness' to the frozen yoghurt.

So, if you're in Mid Valley or the Gardens and have a hankering for something sweet and cold, do drop by and pay a visit for some creamy healthy frozen yoghurty goodness!

Sno Shakes - McFlurry on Steroids in Pavilion KL

If you love McFlurries (from Micky Dee's), or at least think they're okay, I'm sure you've thought at one time or other "I like this Oreo McFlurry, but it would be so much more awesome if I could have it with ___________" instead (fill in the blanks with whatever snack, chocolate bar or candy you desire). Well, your cravings might just have been answered by a little ice cream / frozen yoghurt shop at the basement foodie section of Pavilion KL called Sno Shakes.

Oreo's, Kit Kat's, Jaffa cakes, Snickers, Mars Bars, Kellogg's Frosties, Bananas, Coco Puffs, Marshmallows, Coffee, Reese's Peanut Butter - these are some of the crazy ingredients that you can choose to add to a "base" of either Vanilla or Green Tea ice creams, or Frozen Yoghurt. Chances are if they don't have it, it's not worth having. I mean heck, you can even add powdered protein to the mix. You know, as a delicious protein shake before hitting the gym.

Those of you with sharp eyesight and a passion for all things techy and geeky (like the darling and I) would have spotted that - yes, you order your shakes using iPads!

Interactive menus beat down traditional ones any time of the day.

If you're not feeling particularly adventurous, you can settle for the pre-mixed ones, with funky names like Sno Surprise, Sno xcitement and Sno cochino, there should be something to suit your mood. Or just go to the 'wild' side and mix and match to your heart's content

Submit your order using the iPad, head to the cashier and make your payment, and they'll whip up your shake or smoothie.

Now, some reality check so that this post doesn't sound like a paid advertisement. At MYR12.90 and onwards for a shake, it isn't exactly cheap. And they serve their shakes in a normal soft drinks cup (i.e. the ice cream melts very quickly), and in a normal-sized straw (i.e. you can't suck up all the bigger chunks like the mini-marshmallows we had in our shake).

Verdict? The service was slow as nails, but I can overlook that seeing as today was their very first day. Plus the girl was cute ... no problem standing longer to look ^_^ ... haha. Anyway taste-wise it's exactly as you'd imagine. Choose a nice combination of ingredients and it should be nice, but I'm sure it's really possible to get the combination totally and horridly wrong :)

Next time you're in Pavilion do give it a try, if for nothing else than to play around with their iPad ordering system :)
